Sciatica

Sciatica is a pain that travels along the sciatic nerve, which is the longest nerve in the body. This nerve starts in the lower back, moves through the hips and buttocks, and goes down each leg. Sciatica usually happens when something presses on or irritates this nerve, like a herniated disc (a cushion between the bones in the spine that slips out of place) or tight muscles in the lower back or hips.

People with sciatica often feel a sharp, burning, or shooting pain down one side of their body, usually from the lower back down to the leg. It can also cause numbness, tingling, or weakness in the leg or foot. Treatment can include posture therapy, rest, stretches, physiotherapy, and sometimes medication or other medical procedures if the pain is severe or doesn’t improve.

Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is discomfort felt in the area between your ribs and hips. It’s very common and can be caused by things like muscle strain (from lifting something heavy or twisting awkwardly), poor posture, or sitting for too long without enough support. The lower back also contains important structures like bones, discs, muscles, and nerves, so issues with any of these can lead to pain.

The pain can range from a dull ache to sharp, stabbing sensations, and it may feel worse with certain movements, like bending or lifting. Lower back pain often improves with posture therapy, rest, gentle movement, stretching, and physiotherapy or over-the-counter pain relief if needed.
